The knowledge provided with this skill relates to animal behavior and their social habits. Without a die roll, a trained individual will know the basic feeding and social norms (i.e. herding, nesting, etc.) of common animals or ones with which they have past experience.

A character can also determine an animal’s general mood or discern whether the animal is intending to attack or flee.


Animal Handling
Cost 4
Required: Animal Lore, 3 Aura

With an Aura Roll a character with Animal Handling can care for most wild and domestic animals. This includes pack animals and but also animal companions or pets. Any wounded animal regains an extra 2 Vigor per day under the care of the animal handler.

Additionally, a successful Aura Roll can calm an excited or agitated animal.


Animal Riding

Required: Animal Handling

Animal Riding is the art of professionally riding and horses or other types of ground mounts. A character with Animal Riding can spur a mount to great speeds (1.5x their normal movement), and can urge said mount to jump tall obstacles, gaps, or perform any number of saddle tricks that involve getting on and off the horse quickly.


Animal Training
Cost 4
Required: Animal Handling

This skill allows for the domestication of wild animals, along with teaching already domesticated animals tasks or tricks. The tasks are simple – fetching, hunting for their master, herding sheep, and so forth. Each task takes roughly 2d6 weeks of training time and requires an Aura Roll.
